Weddings (and the quality of the Sigma 85mm 1.4)
Last week I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of my old university housemate. The service, speeches – the entire day in general, were just a joy.
It’s the first time I’d shot a wedding using my Sigma 85mm 1.4, a lens I’ve discussed my love for before. Now having used the lens in a working environment where getting the shot is more important than a studio portrait, I’m still in love. Okay, so there was the odd point during the day when the small amount of extra aperture would’ve been great, however the speed at which the Sigma lens focuses compared with it’s Canon L competitor more than compensated. Throughout the day the extra speed in focusing meant I got shots I’m unsure I would’ve captured with the 1.2. Will I still rent a 1.2 sometimes, yes, but only in the studio (and I won’t loose any sleep if I can’t get one).
You can see more shots from the day below
